Educational visits are not only fun and a hugely memorable time, there are constant opportunities for students to expand their own individual tacit knowledge crucial to higher level learning and problem-solving skills. Students take what they’ve learnt back into everyday life and this impacts them for months and years to come. 61 students accompanied by their teachers visited the University on Friday 5th November 2021. The students had a chance to tour the university facilities, faculties and departments.
They were taken for a brief tour in the University library where they went through all the sections of the library and the category of books available in the library.During the career guidance session, a representative from the marketing department gave them helpful career tips and a brief summary of the faculties and courses offered at DeKUT. The students seemed very interested in some of the courses offered as they enquired about them and their queries were answered to their satisfaction.
Thereafter they visited the various labs such as food science, food nutrition, industrial chemistry, leather technology and ADMACT Labs where they were taken through the various programs under each lab they visited by the technologist and they were able to learn a lot about them. They were also able to have lunch at the students’ mess and a feel of how student life is at the University. The day was a success as the students were well equipped with useful information and we got a lot of positive feedback from the teachers as well as the students
